Today we’re pleased to be announcing Game of Glens. As you may or may not know, last year we started developing a game called Tribal Towers. It was a really fun game and a bunch of friends and family gave us some great feedback as part of a limited alpha test in the summer. We got some great insights; lots of positive comments about the fun of the core game but also some smartly critical stuff, that we agreed with, about the game’s complexity and visual style. We wanted to address that quickly but unfortunately we had to put it on hold for a while when other work became more important within the studio.
When we came back to the game late last year, we had some new ideas for the tone, setting and style of the game. We decided we wanted to embrace our Scottish heritage and with some great concept art from one of our artists we got a style we were really happy with. The game was reborn as Game of Glens.
At about the same time all this was happening, Square Enix happened to announce something called Collective that sounded really interesting to us. We had been looking at crowd funding and self publishing as an option for Game of Glens for some time, but with Collective we seemed to have a perfectly timed opportunity to do that and a bit more. So we jumped on board with Collective and that’s where we are today.
