Ruffian Games is looking for a talented Art Director to oversee the creation and management of a clear art vision for our upcoming projects.

The successful applicant will be responsible:

  • Defining a clear art vision for our projects
  • Working closely with our clients to create that vision
  • Directing and managing our leads and art team to hit the required visual bar
  • We are a medium sized multi project studio looking for an Art Director to join us on our mission to create excellent games.

Reports to

  • Senior studio directors

Collaborates with

  • Technical director
  • Creative director
  • Art Manager

Manages

  • Art leads
  • Art team

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all visual output of the studio from a qualitative perspective
  • Oversee the creation of a coherent visual manifesto for all Ruffian projects
  • Recruitment of the appropriate talent to enact agreed art vision
  • Work with our clients to achieve agreement of art vision
  • Drive the team through review
  • If you can see it then it’s ultimately your responsibility to make sure it looks excellent

Qualifications / Experience / Attributes

  • Pragmatic and practical can-do attitude
  • HD / Console experience on a shipped title
  • Excellent aesthetic sensibilities
  • Attention to detail
  • Can work to a brief and to deadlines
  • Can work in a variety of styles
  • Enthusiasm for learning and self improvement
  • Great communication skills and ability to work in a team
  • Good knowledge of latest techniques / technology relating to games visuals
  • Will have managed a team
  • Will have worked with game publishers
