John Hynd - Senior Engineer

John-small

John has been working in the games industry since 2004. After graduating from Abertay’s Computer Games Technology course in Dundee, an attendance including two entries to Dare to be Digital, John joined Kuju’s Brighton
studio (now branded Zoë Mode).

While in Brighton, John quickly became a key member of the coding staff as the company grew from a handful of people to a staff of over 150 across multiple studios.

The adventure started with a variety of projects for Sony including titles in the EyeToy Play franchise and Eye Create for PlayStation 3 and working with the PlayStation Home team at Sony’s London studio. He then developed an in-house solution for online gaming and networking that was used in the company’s recent titles such as Rock Revolution and You’re in the Movies. A move to R+D followed where he worked on Kuju’s cross studio multi-core next-next generation game engine Fabric and learned how to putt using the Zoë R+D putting machine that had no batteries.

John now works with some remarkable talent as a senior engineer at Ruffian Games and is very excited about the company’s plans for the future.

John has never had a day off sick and likes football. A lot. Unfortunately, he is not very good at it.
